The recent (and much needed!) rains brought beautiful green fields to LA and I was so excited when Yen & Randy were down to shoot in this lush location! It almost reminded me of Hawaii or somewhere else tropical! We were also blessed with the prettiest light which led up to quite the amazing sunset.

So loved photographing this romantic session!

Sometimes I wonder. If I’ll ever get tired of shooting beach engagement sessions. It’s so quintessential LA, and the beach is basically just one repetitious backdrop – no colorful walls, twisted shrubbery, unique architecture – but something about it is still so inspiring to me. The simplicity of the blank backdrop with perfect light. And the fact that despite this simplicity it can look different, every. single. time. Sometimes the less there is to work with, the more there is to the photo? The bareness of the backdrop puts even more emphasis on the couple? Or is it that each couple uniquely fills up the space with their laughter, their smiles, their quiet interactions?

Something like that. All I know is that this? I’m definitely not tired of it yet.

Oh how I adored hanging out with Rebecca and Sam for this session! They are the type of people who instantly make you feel relaxed in their presence and I loved running around Long Beach with them. In between photos and at dinner after their session, they shared with me more about their story, which begins with how they first met in Chicago, while both of them were just visiting the city. What are the odds? They’ve been doing long distance for much for their relationship and I can’t imagine how excited they must be for when they get to move in together this summer :)

Can’t wait for their wedding this July, and to work with the amazing Michelle from Mele Amore!
