Happy Friday! We will be returning to session postings shortly, but I’m taking a quick intermission to share a little recap of last Friday (before these days of rain and hail and STORMWATCH 2010! arrived upon us).

The first main event of the evening was The Wedding Clique mixer, hosted by two amazing people, Henry Chen and Trini of Nozza Studio. I am so honored to know them & be part of a great resource like The Wedding Clique, and had a wonderful time seeing old faces & making new friends! If you’re a vendor & making friends is your idea of a good time, be sure to follow The Wedding Clique on Twitter to stay updated! Word is, these mixers will be a quarterly happening!

The second event of the evening was Scott’s band’s show at the Good Hurt. I’ve posted about Potential Difference before and like always, I grooved along like a good-photographer-slash-girlfriend with my camera in hand. Some snaps from the set, mixed with fun portraits we shot afterwards are below. You can check out my ramblings on their past shows here and here, & hear their tunes via myspace here! This was their first show at the Good Hurt which is a cool venue - partially because of the neat space and vibe, and partially because of the fact that they have JARS OF CANDY on every table. JARS! of CANDY!

If you’re a regular reader of this blog you’ve probably figured out that Scott is quite an integral part of this photography business. Aside from being the most awesome second photographer a girl could ask for, he also serves as head Stress-Relief Supervisor, Battery-Charging Technician, Camera-Bag-Packing Guru, Human Sounding Board, and seemingly tireless Personal Cheerleader. To be honest, this business would be nothing without Scott’s calm and unwavering support amidst the sea of shooting, editing, and emailing craziness that often fills my day to day life.

And somewhere in the middle of it all, he manages to maintain his own thriving business and a handful of hobbies. One of which is his band, Potential Difference, which practices every week in our loft. It’s great because they plug their electronic instruments into a system and play on headphones, as to not cause a mob of angry neighbors to congregate at our front door. As I’m sitting downstairs most likely in an editing fervor, I pretty much can only hear the sound of singing voices, so it’s always a treat when they have a show and I get to hear what the songs are REALLY supposed to sound like!

One such show was this past weekend at Joe’s Joint in West LA. I had my camera with me after capturing an awesome event earlier that day (more on that soon!) so I was able to grab a few shots during the show between my intense hollers and applause. Because although I am far from being a Band-Equipment-Packing Guru, I can definitely do some Personal Cheerleading of my own :)

Before the show, we went upstairs to a cool little green room (red room?) the venue had and took a few frames:

And onto the show!

You can keep up with the band on their MySpace as well as their newly founded Twitter. (My personal fave on the former is “Fader”, which was recorded in their dorm room back in college a few years ago. Talk about high-end studio.)

As much as I hate to admit it, there’s a teensy little piece of me that falls into the “sucker for a guy with a guitar” category. Except in my case it’s extended to any variety of musical instruments, minus the kazoo and possibly the rain stick (no offense to anyone who rocks either of the above). So there’s a teensy little piece of me that gets giddy when Scott starts going at it on the drums. And when it’s in a club, with the shiny lights and the eardrum-popping grooves it’s all I can do from screaming girly nonsense and swooning in the first row. But I managed to contain myself last Wednesday when his band Potential Difference took on the Knitting Factory. They rocked a 35 minute set, complete with covers of Peter Bjorn and John’s “Young Folks” and the oldie favorite “This Magic Moment.” An excited crowd of friends and family showed up and I could tell the band members were really feeling the good energy. And me? I was just concentrating on not dropping my camera right there and shamelessly throwing articles of clothing onto the stage ;)

Before they went on, we grabbed a few shots in the back setup area, which was all grungy and awesome:

Don’t ask because I haven’t a clue.
