A sunny fall day, the Palos Verdes hills, a couple flower crowns, and this beautiful family make for the sweetest portrait session! Both of the girls were such a delight, and the little boy, born just a few weeks before the shoot, was such a trooper.

So happy we were able to get these images that they can use for their holiday cards this year!

Seriously one of the happiest little families I ever did see! I was so excited when Peggy contacted me to take their family portraits, especially since they would all be donning beautiful kimonos and hakamas. The dressing up was also partially in celebration for the kids’ shichi-go-san celebration, which literally translates into “seven-five-three” and is a celebration for children of that age. I remember dressing up and having photos taken for my own shichi-go-san a bajillion years ago, so it brought back sweet memories of having my hair done and sporting a kimono that was so tight I could barely breathe, but made me feel absolutely fancy and beautiful :)

Little Jenna and Jake are seriously so full of personality and happiness, and I loved photographing this beautiful family in such a beautiful setting. Would love to do more sessions like this in the future! :)

Another ones of my beautiful past couples, who has welcomed a new addition to their family and invited me to document another milestone in their lives :) They’re living in nor cal now and it worked out that I was able to meet up with them while I was there for one of my weddings last month. They showed me their cute new home, the parks where they take Ryan, and one of their favorite ramen places (which was DELICIOUS!)

From the moment I decided to do photography, I always wanted to specialize in weddings and engagements, but I’ve really been enjoying these family sessions that have fatefully fallen into my lap recently. The images that result from these relaxed, peek-into-the-daily, lifestyle type sessions speak so closely to my heart :)
