This amazing little family – I can’t even begin to tell you how overjoyed it makes to have been able to document so many milestones in their lives. I still remember my very first meeting with Dawn to discuss her wedding – we talked about travel, and bicycles, and food (so much about food!) and I seriously walked out of that meeting feeling like we were old friends. I had the opportunity to photograph their engagement session and wedding, then maternity portraits when Dawn was carrying little Ryder, and this session, where they’re expecting their second little boy. He’s since arrived and I couldn’t be happier for them!

At the last moment, Dawn decided to bring the teepee from Ryder’s room, and I loved how it turned out in photos! :)

Lot 613. As always, Sassy Girl Weddings pulled everything together perfectly, and transformed the loft space into the prettiest urban oasis – how amazing are those hanging arrangements??

One of my most favorite moments was the father-daughter dance – Lina told me her dad’s favorite type of dance is bon odori, a fun group dance that takes place at the Japanese obon festivals. So that’s what they did for their dance! It was my first time seeing this done at a wedding and I loved how their guests joined in, how it was something that was so special & meaningful for Lina and her father, and how his smile showed just how happy he was :) It was a wonderful reminder that your wedding is about you, you can choose what resonates with you most, make your own traditions, and infuse every corner of it with what you hold most dear to your heart :)

If you can believe it, Susan & Sonny are even more fun and sweet than they look in these photos! They’re the types of people who are always full of smiles and extend a genuine warmth towards everyone they meet. I was seriously overjoyed when they asked me to photograph their wedding, which will take place just a hop away from where I live at the stunning Loft on Pine :)

Hope this session brought a bit of happy into your Monday!
