Sometimes I meet with couples and they ask me what my style is. Even better, sometimes I meet with them and they sweetly tell me what my style is & just why they like it {heart=happy!} Of course every image that pops up on this blog is “my style”, since I don’t know how to shoot in any other way, but I just want to say, for the record, that so many things in this session speak to me. This laughter, this color, this movement, this softness, this light, this joy, this love – this is the stuff that just. feels. right.

And Anh & Todd? They are loving, laidback, and inspiring to be around. They are those types of people who are so full of life that even after a 7-hour drive straight from SF to their session, I felt chock full of energy in their presence :) So excited for their wedding at the Nixon Library this year!

Meet Amanda. She’s an amazing coordinator and co-founder of Fresh Events Company and has put together some of the most beautiful/creative/flawlessly executed weddings I have seen. And now, it’s her turn! I could go on and on and get real real sappy regarding what an honor it is to have worked alongside her for so many weddings and events, only to have the opportunity to document her own special day, but I’ll save that all for the wedding post :)

For now, I’d just like to say, how cute are these two?? This session was the first time I really got to spend time with Amanda & Kelly together, and watching them interact is the sweetest thing (it’s punny! there’s candy in this session!) – they’re so playful and silly together and I loved how they chose a location that lent itself to these interactions.

Special thanks to Rocket Fizz for letting us run amok in their store & stay tuned for the wedding photos coming up soon! (In summary: Their wedding was amazeballs. I took five hundred million photos. I love my job.)

Bougainvillea! It’s my photographic equivalent to bacon-wrapped hot dogs sold by the side of the road at 2am – I JUST CAN’T WALK BY WITHOUT STOPPING.

One of the most wonderful things about a wedding? It can be whatever you want it to be. It’s of course fun when weddings are big loud occasions, full of extended family & friends, bustling cocktail hours, boisterous receptions, packed dance floors.

But I’ve found that this here? This type of wedding speaks just as loudly as it’s bigger counterparts. It is filled with just as much joy. It resonates with just as much emotion. It shouts just as proudly from the rooftops that today, today we celebrate our love.

Crystal and Marc were married in an intimate courthouse ceremony, with just close family in attendance. I’ve known Crystal for a couple years now, and it was a true honor to be able to be there to capture these sweet moments & witness the joy and immediate connection between their two families. Afterwards, we stepped across the street to do some portraits on a sunny strip of park that lines Santa Monica Blvd. in Beverly Hills. I loved the whole relaxed and intimate feel of the day and am so so happy for this amazing couple!

As Crystal said herself, this is my ideal wedding. And that’s undoubtedly the best kind of wedding to have :)

I love that Crystal & Marc’s grandmothers were BFFs by the end of the afternoon! :)

Isn’t Crystal gorgeous? I always thought she looked like Scarlett Johansson :) {her hair and make-up were done by the wonderful Susie Chhuor!}
