{ Balance }

I spent this weekend disguised as a regular person. I was not a face with a camera permanently attached, I was not an editing maniac, I was not an inbox-demolishing email machine. For the first time in a long time I took a break from most things business-related, and had a relaxed brunch (here), went on a refreshing hike (here), watched a movie (this one), and visited my parents (they don’t have a website, thank goodness).

And I came to a small realization. A realization that as much as I most dearly love what I do, I need to find a balance. That taking the time to breathe gives me inspiration – inspiration from a sunny afternoon, from a delicious meal, from long talks that soften my heart and remind me of why I spend so much of my life capturing and documenting love. It’s been a long time since I’ve written about my life, and an even longer time since I’ve taken a step back and looked at it square in the eye. I’m going to be lifting the camera back up to my face and rounding out the summer with a fresh perspective that will enable me to be a better friend, daughter, and photographer. And in between the wedding and engagement posts that are on that way, I hope to share plenty of my daily tidbits here with you as well :)

    Very nice perspective, Adrienne! And you definitely need to write more about your life … it’s a way for your clients to connect with you. :)

    I’m glad you took some time for yourself! Ironically you still had your camera on you! ;) But I agree, balance is the key to being able to be your best in all areas of your life! :)

    GOOD! I think that doing that every so often is completely refreshing and absolutely renewing of your spirit. Have fun!

    Need to find a balance – what thoughtful words. As I’m sitting here at 11:30pm I realize it’s time to turn off my computer and go have some time away from work. Beautiful images :)

    I feel like you took the words out of my head, and plopped them on to this page. I am in need of a “day of balance” BAD!

    Adrienne, there must be something in the air. I took a couple week’s off from blogging, Facebook, and all the other temptations of modern life… and dare I say, it felt really good :) Granted, I was editing half the time (lol) and missed visiting blogs and seeing my friends’ work, but I agree balance is important and crucial for keeping our love for what we do alive and strong. Great post.

    Hi Adrienne, I’m Heather Sloane’s mom. I wanted to thank you for the GORGEOUS pictures of her and Joe in Laguna Beach. I only wish someone with your taste and eye had photographed my wedding 37 years ago.

    Also, thanks for posting info on the Rose Cafe in Venice. This place is so close to us, yet we’ve never visited for brunch. I’m waiting for the first available Sunday to grab my spouse and have a feast there!
